Imaging for Superficial Circumflex Iliac Artery Perforator (SCIP) Flap

Superficial circumflex iliac artery perforator (SCIP) flap yields a thin and pliable flap which is now considered as an ideal flap option. Its perforator is a direct skin perforator that directly goes to the subcutaneous layer. CT angiography (CTA) is a widely used imaging modality in preoperative planning for the SCIP flap. It has the advantage of providing detailed resolution and three-dimensional information with relatively low cost and complications. CDU is an ideal imaging modality for SCIP which provides real-time information which can overcome the limitations of CTA. Comprehensive use of multiple imaging modalities makes SCIP flap elevation safer.
