摘要

The dramatic rise in global cancer incidence and mortality rates underscores the urgent need for effective cancer treatment strategies. This situation highlights the critical importance of discovering druggable targets for various cancer types, including lung cancer. The concept of druggable targets has revolutionized cancer treatment, pivoting toward a more personalized approach. By understanding specific molecular mechanisms underlying different cancers, researchers have been able to identify key targets for treatment. This strategy has been particularly successful in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), where kinase inhibitors targeting specific pathways, like EGFR, ALK, and PD-1/PD-L1, have shown significant efficacy. The success in NSCLC serves as a model for other cancer types, demonstrating the potential of targeted therapy in improving patient outcomes. The chapter underscores the necessity of continuous research in molecular testing and drug discovery to expand the arsenal of targeted treatments.
