Modification of Polysaccharide Through the Grafting of Vinyl Monomer with Potassium Bromate/Thiourea Redox System
摘要
Graft copolymerization importance its synthesis via free radical polymerization has been discussed in this work. The use of potassium bromate/thiourea redox initiating system in radical polymerization has been discussed, and it has been seen that the increase in grafting efficiency, its ratio, and conversion is directly proportional to the concentration of bromate and acrylamide on contrary to that the pattern decreases with the increase in concentration of guar-gum. Temperature study has also been conducted, and it was concluded that the highest grafting ratio obtained was at temperature 45 ℃ with the decrease in conversion. The best time for the reaction has been optimized as 2 h. In addition, the resistance of synthesized polymer for biodegradability has been checked along with other common properties such as sorption of metal ion, flocculation, and swelling behavior.
