Productivity and Labor Force Participation in the Ancash Region of Peru: Implications for Sustainable Development Goals 8 and 9
摘要
In this study, the objective was to determine the relationship between productivity and formal employment in the Ancash region during the period 2007–2017, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8), which promotes sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all, and Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9), which focuses on building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and fostering innovation. The study method was applied, non-experimental, descriptive-correlational, using statistical and econometric techniques, and exploratory. The incidence of productivity on formal employment is relatively important, considering that it may be due to a long-term effect, driven by the impact or development of new technologies and the increase in demand for goods and services. The results confirm the statement of the general hypothesis, therefore, the existence of a direct relationship between the variables formal employment and labor productivity is observed. This study underscores the critical role that enhancing productivity can play in achieving SDG 8 and SDG 9 in the Ancash region, highlighting the importance of strategies that foster technological advancements and demand growth to support sustainable economic and industrial development.
