Introduction

Driven by spatio-temporal big data and artificial intelligence, traditional geographic information systems (GIS) are facing many challenges. It needs to manage more new types of spatial data. Spatial data also needs to be processed and applied in a comprehensive manner. Moreover, the simulation of complex geographic processes and the visualization of spatio-temporal dynamics require high-performance computing power. To this end, it is necessary to make full use of the management technology of spatio-temporal big data, high-performance computing technology, and new visualization and mapping strategies. This is the research background and application requirements of high-performance GIS.
