Characteristics of Resident Participation and Cooperative Awareness in the Early Activity Stage of a Newly Formed Community Development Association in an Elementary School District

摘要

This study examined the actual conditions of residents’ participation and awareness of cooperation in the early stage of community development activities in an elementary school district and the relationships among community participation, residents’ place attachment, and social capital. Using the data obtained from residents of District I, which is located on the edge of Izumo City in Shimane Prefecture, we determined that there are relationships among elements of resident social capital, the different forms of place attachment, and resident participation and cooperative awareness of a newly formed community development association.
