Study on Corrosion Resistant Performance of Gas Insulated Switchgear Used in Offshore Wind Power

To reduce CO2 emissions and meet the increasing energy demands, the use of wind energy is growing rapidly across the world. As core switching equipment, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) is widely used in offshore step-up substations. Due to the high pollution and humidity levels in marine environments, GIS used on offshore platforms have to meet corrosion-resistant requirements. In this paper, GIS for offshore step-up substations is designed. The anti-corrosion measures used in offshore GIS are given. The corrosion-resistant performance of GIS parts is verified by salt spray tests. The results show that the tested sample blocks have no blistering on the surfaces of the paint films and no obvious corrosion at the scribed lines. Therefore, it can be concluded that, with properly designed anti-corrosion measures, the corrosion-resistant performance of GIS for offshore wind power step-up substations meets the requirements of marine environments.
