Study on Spray Characteristics of Diesel/Furan Blend Fuel Based on Visualization
摘要
Furan has emerged as a promising alternative fuel for diesel engines. In this study, the spray characteristics of diesel/furan blends were investigated using a constant volume combustor system. Three different fuel blends (D100, D90F10, and D80F20) were prepared by mixing furan with diesel at varying volume ratios of 0%, 10%, and 20%. The findings indicate that furan significantly enhances the evaporation and atomization effects of the mixed fuel spray, with D80F20 exhibiting superior performance. Specifically, furan increases liquid penetration distance while reducing cone angle and area of liquid spray; maximum reduction in spray area was observed for D90F10 (36.5%) and D80F20 (56.3%). Additionally, furan increases gas-liquid phase penetration distance, cone angle, and area in the spray; maximum increase in gas-liquid phase area was observed for D90F10 (12.6%) and D80F20 (20.3%).
