Himalayan Chir Pine Biomass as an Adsorbent for the Removal of Industrial Dye

The fallen dry pine leaves are one of the major causes of forest fires, which lead to pollution and affect the natural habitat of the region. The dye water released from the textile, paper, and leather industries is also one of the major pollutants and is difficult to remove with conventional water filtration techniques. For the treatment of dye water and to make it safer for drinking, activated carbon made from pine needles can be used, which will also help reduce the risk of forest fires. To test the effectiveness of the activated carbon sample, wastewater was collected from the textile industry. The adsorption isotherms and adsorption kinematics are also investigated for the dye. To identify the characteristics of the activated carbon, tests such as SEM, XRD, EDAX, BET, and FTIR were performed.
