Design of Sparse Inputs with Time-Varying Support

This chapter introduces the problem of designing or estimating sparse inputs (with time-varying support) for a linear dynamical system. We discuss two settings: state-dependent and state-independent sparse input design. In the state-dependent case, we explore several sparsity-aware algorithms from the compressed sensing literature to tackle the sparse control problem. For the state-independent case, we present a sparse actuator scheduling approach using greedy algorithms.
