One of the significant contributors to the emission of carbon dioxide is the cement industry. In present paper, a new activated binder has been used in concrete making process in place of conventional binder i.e. Portland cement. The development of such a binder is termed as chemically activated binder namely CAB. The CAB binder is prepared by mixing 15% chemical activator and 85% ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS). The GGBFS is a by-product of the metallurgical industries. The GGBFS is a non-metallic by-product obtained during the metal extraction process. In the present study, mix designs for various grades of standard strength concretes viz. M30, M35, M40, M45 and M50 were done using 80% CAB and 20% Alccofine. Different type of concrete specimens like cube, cylinder and prism were cast and cured at different age of maturity. In this study, the mechanical properties such as compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength of the standard CAB concrete has been studied at different age of maturity. In addition, the residual strength properties of the CAB concrete has also been evaluated at elevated temperatures 200, 400, 600 and 800 °C.
