The lateral load resisting mechanism in high-rise buildings has a significant impact on the structure's response. It is possible to design an efficient and affordable tall building with understanding of the factors affecting the selection of the structural system and the interaction with architectural aspects of the structural system existing in the tall building. The present paper has used structural analyses to compare the structural behaviors of various lateral load resisting viz., moment-resisting frame system, moment-resisting frame system with shear wall (dual system), framed tube system, tube-in-tube structure, bundled tube structure using the structural software ETABS. For all the types of the models, parametric studies of Storey displacements, Storey drift, base shear, modal time Period and Storey acceleration were assessed. The designated structures have G + 36 Storey and plan area are 1600 m2 area (40 m × 40 m) throughout the building height. RC Moment Resisting Frame Structure was compared to the Tubular constructions, the modal time period decreased significantly. When tall tubular constructions were subjected to seismic loading, their base shear increased relative to tall RC moment-resistant frame structures. When comparing the top story displacement of a Tall RC Moment Resisting Structure to Tubular Structures, storey drift and story displacement have decreased. For Tubular constructions over the Tall RC Moment Resisting Structure, storey accelerations increased.

摘要

The impact of lateral load on tall buildings is a significant consideration that escalates with building height.
