Borophene: A New Analog of Graphene
摘要
Borophene is a Dirac material made of boron atoms with its two-dimensional structure offering great electrical characteristics like graphene. The hexagonal monolayer structure of boron atoms, similar to the carbon atoms in graphene, is dependent on the atomic structure and arrangement of boron. This material has promise in electronics, energy storage, catalysis, and sensing. Scientists and academicians at a global level have become increasingly interested in its importance as a nanotechnology material in recent years. It is sometimes called a “novel counterpart to graphene” because of its unique properties and broad applications. The material has good ideal specific capacity, ion transportation, and electric conductivity. It can be used as a negative electrode in lithium-ion batteries. It also has great in-plane strength and flexibility and detects atoms and molecules due to its catalytic properties. The high hydrogen adsorption affinity of borophene is that this phenomenon catalyzes the decomposition of molecular hydrogen into hydrogen ions and reduces water. Borophene is versatile in catalysis, electronics, energy storage, and quantum computing because of its high electric conductivity, flexibility, and thermal efficiency. Borophene research expands its uses in sophisticated materials and technologies.
