Investigating the Reliability of Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure Communication

The distributed structure of wireless communication along the decentralized structure of vehicular ad hoc networks makes them susceptible to attacks. The reduction of attacks by providing safety is the primary goal of vehicular networking. Nowadays, vehicles can link to outside resources and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication systems are maturing, making reliable communication necessary. Modern automobiles are vulnerable to vehicular communication attacks. This study includes a three-layer model that includes a sensor, communication, and control system to understand vehicle security concerns. In the sensing layer vehicle sensors may be imitated and monitored. The communication layer is vulnerable to Sybil attacks, eavesdropping, etc. The topmost layer, responsible for automating the speed, acceleration, and movement of the vehicle, is the control layer in the model. Privacy may compromise at the lower two layers which may also affect the operation of the control layer. The article mainly includes a comprehensive analysis of current threats and assaults that affect vehicular communication, as well as preventive measures for these problems.
