Performance Evaluation of IEC/IEEE Standard 60255-118-1-2018 Compliant M-Class Phasor Measurement

This work demonstrates the performance evaluation of IEC/IEEE Standard 60255-118-1-2018 compliant M-class phasor measurement. The FIR filter-based phasor estimation is implemented with the Hanning, Blackman, and Hamming window which is recommended in a reference model in the standard. In addition, the frequency and rate of change of frequency (ROCOF) are estimated along with the phasor. The performance comparison of the FIR filter-based phasor estimation using three window functions is presented in detail. The performance of the FIR filter-based M-class phasor estimation model is evaluated with the total vector error (TVE), frequency error (FE), and ROCOF error (RFE) under steady state and dynamic state as prescribed by the standard. The modeling and evaluation of phasor estimation are performed at the MATLAB platform.
