摘要

In the modern world, there is an ever-increasing growth in the demand of power for various applications. The strategies implemented for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power are manifold and play a vital role in the existing power system operation and planning. Thus it is important to monitor and make certain the security and reliability of the power system under contingencies. Contingency is an abnormal situation occurring in the system upon some failure or outage of a line or generator. Consequently, contingency analysis becomes a critical tool for assessing the operating states and condition of power flow under the event of outage of a line, generator, transformer, etc. These perturbations affect the radial distribution system and thus, cause interruptions in the power supply to end users. In order to get information regarding the reduction of energy, revenue, load depletion, and changes in the system parameters during a contingency, radial distribution system contingency analysis is employed. Additionally, it offers details on how distributed generation and network reconfiguration affect the distribution system under contingencies.
