Measurement of Drape Profile Parameters of Woven Fabrics Under Dynamic Conditions
摘要
Fabric drape behavior is one of the most important properties of flexible material. It is also one of many factors that influence the aesthetic appearance of a fabric and has an outstanding effect on the formal beauty of the garment. The drape of a fabric is mostly determined by the drape coefficient in static condition. But the fabric drape is affected by the movement of the wearer. Hence the fabric drape should be measured during the dynamic conditions to estimate the drape behavior during the movement of the wearer. In this study, an attempt has been made to predict the dynamic drape parameters of cotton woven fabrics with the rotational speed of the supporting disc. The drape parameters were measured by a specially designed apparatus which can rotate as well as swing in the vertical direction simultaneously. Three drape parameters are defined for the complete understanding of the drape profile under dynamic conditions. These three dynamic drape parameters are dynamic drape coefficient, dynamic amplitude and number of nodes which are measured by using the image processing technique. The results show that these dynamic drape parameters change in three regions. In the first and third region, the change was very slow, but it changes very sharply in the second region. The changes of these dynamic drape parameters are analyzed from the experimental values by curve fitting technique and predictive equations are formed for different drape parameters with the rotational speed of the supporting disc.
