Sustainable Practices in the Textile Sector: Case Study of the Global Value Chain of the American Economies

Economies belonging to the Americas are collectively emerging as important global supplier of textile-related goods, given the fact that the gap between production costs, and retail pricing is being narrowed in recent years the region represents a competitive player in the textile industry. Since promoting regional integration by expanding intraregional value chain of production and distribution represents a great opportunity to promote sustainability mainly in factors related to inclusiveness, diversity and equity (EDI) efforts, this analysis of the Americas regional value chain is a relevant insight for understanding the process of the region in terms of the shared values of the industry, contributing to the SDG 9—Industry and innovation, in relation to the process of developing innovation for a sustainable future in the global value chain of the region.
