Cancer and Fungal Infections
摘要
This chapter explores the specific issues experienced by cancer patients due to their vulnerability to numerous fungal pathogens, as well as the complex link between fungal infections and cancer. Aspergillosis, blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, candidiasis, coccidioidomycosis, cryptococcosis, Malassezia, paracoccidioidomycosis, sporotrichosis, and zygomycosis are just a few of the specific fungal infections that are covered in detail in this review, along with their prevalence and effects on patients receiving cancer treatment. Examined is the epidemiology of invasive fungal infections (IFIs), with an emphasis on finding patterns and risk factors. The necessity of fast and precise detection is emphasized while discussing diagnostic techniques for IFIs, particularly in pediatric cancer patients who may have particular difficulties. The chapter delves into the development of therapeutic treatments aimed at reducing the risks of fungal infections in the cancer population, including preventive measures and antifungal therapy options. With the goal of better understanding the intricate relationship between fungal infections and cancer, this thorough review will be of great use to researchers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals who work with cancer patients.
