Suicide: The Aetiology of Social Health
摘要
This chapter presents a detailed analysis of Émile Durkheim’s Suicide, which was first published in 1897. It is in this book that Durkheim put to test systematically the methodological ideas which he initially articulated in The Division of Labor in Society and later rigorously formulated in The Rules of Sociological Method. It discusses his sociologistic analysis of the relation between individual and society through the phenomenon of suicide, a subject which apparently favoured individualistic and psychological perspectives.
