Conclusion

This chapter recapitulates Émile Durkheim's observations on and analysis of the society-individual dichotomy on the one hand, and the individual and society relations on the other, as seen in his three empirical studies—on the division of labour, suicide, and elementary forms of the religious life—and in his classroom and public lectures. It emphasises the continued relevance of Durkheimian sociology.
