Development and Status of Sealing System from Internal Floating Roof Tank

Internal floating roof is the core component in the internal floating roof tank. The floating roof rises and falls with the liquid level of the storage tank through buoyancy and covers the liquid level above and its seal system plays a key role in the internal floating roof, which could inhibit the evaporation of storage liquid and decrease the danger of fire. In this paper, structure, materials, characteristics and mechanical principle of the seal system in the internal floating roof from Assentech and Allentech have been outlined. Materials, laminated structure and development status of the seal system from China have been reviewed and discussed, and important factors considered during the design of the seal system mentioned in domestic and foreign standards have been collected and analyzed in this study. Comparison and analyses of seal system used for internal floating roof between China and abroad have been carried out. Finally, emergent problems about existing seal system product have been proposed here.
