Patient Preparation and Image Acquisition in Cardiac CT

In this chapter, we provide an overview of the processes in performing a cardiac CT scan, organized in chronological order from patient preparation to scan image acquisition. Meticulous attention to details of patient preparation and scan acquisition is critical for appropriate and safe application of cardiac CT as well as for acquiring images of diagnostic quality. Patient preparation and scan acquisition should follow a detailed protocol to optimize conditions for excellent image quality and to avoid errors.
