Myocardial Perfusion and Viability CT Imaging

This chapter summarizes the methods of computed tomography (CT) myocardial perfusion imaging for comprehensive anatomical and functional assessment of coronary heart disease. Options include static myocardial CT perfusion, either using a single or dual energy source, and dynamic myocardial CT perfusion. While static CT myocardial perfusion has been the traditional approach for detecting myocardial ischemia, dynamic CT myocardial perfusion is emerging as an attractive alternative given the potential for estimating absolute myocardial blood flow/reserve and myocardial fibrosis using extracellular volume. This chapter lists protocols and discusses advantages and disadvantages of various approaches to CT myocardial perfusion imaging.
