Chinese Children’s Phonological Decoding Ability
摘要
This chapter reports findings and provides discussion of both quantitative and qualitative analyses of the collected data concerning Chinese EFL children’s phonological decoding ability in accordance with the research questions as stated in Chap. 3 . Firstly, results of quantitative analyses of participants’ performance in decoding orthographic units of different types are presented and discussed to address research question 1. Secondly, results showing the differences between above average readers, average readers, and below average readers in using a range of strategies to sound out vowel graphemes are presented and discussed to address research question 2. Finally, answers to research question 3 are concerned with participants’ phonological decoding ability in relation to their reading ability.
