摘要

To investigate the mechanical properties and the microstructure of the composite material in emerging industrial applications with increasing demands for lightweight materials. Aluminium boron carbide composites must be manufactured. In this case, the Al 6061 alloy and liquid metallurgy methods were used to manufacture boron carbide composites with varying particle weight fractions. Boron carbide (fracture toughness 3.5 MPa) is a ceramic material could be an alternative to SiC (melt.pt: 27,300 °C, density 3.21 g/cm3). Boron carbide is appealing owing to its high hardness and strong strength. The material has a low density (2.52 g/cm3), exceptionally high hardness, outstanding wear resistance, and good chemical stability. Boron carbide is used to strengthen base alloys and improve their characteristics. This study looked at how the mechanical characteristics of Al6061 reinforced with boron carbide changed after it was cast using the standard process. Its mechanical qualities, including tensile strength, hardness, and microstructure analysis, are also thoroughly examined.
