Visualizing Moral Geographies in Urban Space: The Legal Discourses Shaping Socio-spatial Exclusion and Violence Against Trans Sex Workers in Bogotá, Colombia

Drawing from research conducted as part of the National Observatory of Sex Work in Colombia, this chapter incorporates qualitative data from a participatory action research initiative involving 20 semi-structured interviews with sex workers in order to illustrate the reality of police violence and socio-spatial exclusion in the daily lives of transgender sex workers in Bogotá. By connecting the qualitative data set with critical scholarship on sex work, space and gender, the moral geographies of the city centre are contextualized through narratives of police violence and are visualized through the social cartographies produced by sex workers during semi-structured interviews.
