Introduction: Navigating Contemporary Sex Work; Navigating (In)Access to Justice and Rights

Examining the role of space and geography in (in)access to justice and rights for sex workers is of increasing importance. Geographers have, in recent years, highlighted the multi-faceted ways in which different modes of socio-spatial control (both formal and informal) have enabled or hindered the prevention of harm to sex workers. This introduction to the edited collection examines the contemporary complexities of navigating the legal, moral, and socio-spatial regulation of sex work globally, and how these affect (in)access to justice and rights for sex workers. We seek to contribute to the debate by examining key themes relating to the gendered landscape of sex work, formal and informal methods of socio-spatial control, and different theoretical and policy perspectives on justice.
