Role of Enzymes in Epilepsy
摘要
The aetiology of epilepsy is multifactorial that disrupts the neuronal circuit through the generation of electric impulses and thus affects the cognitive, neurobiological and psychological systems. It is characterised by disturbances in motor and autonomic functions. Existing therapy focuses on curbing neuronal excitability but is symptomatic and ineffective in transposing the condition and restoring it to its normal state. Enzymes are an area of thrust that may facilitate the reversal process, chiefly the modulatory enzymes of the brain. The enzymatic regime is extensively exploited as a therapeutic option predominantly at a multi-dimensional level. This perspective elucidates some of the crucial enzymes researched that are beneficial for treating epilepsy along with the contributions to epileptic therapeutic regimens.
