Nano-Biofertilizers and Nano-Biopesticides: Impact of Future Agrochemicals

Most of what people and domestic animals eat comes from farms, and experts project that demand for food will rise by 70% by 2050 (Adisa et al., Environmental Science: Nano 6:2002–2030, 2019). Despite their importance for long-term sustainability, high agricultural yields are bad for the environment due to water consumption, ecosystem degradation, and the use of agrochemicals on the soil (Shekhar et al., Materials Advances 2:6569–6588, 2021).
