IoT-Based Portable Solar Suitcase for EV Battery Charging Application
摘要
India’s automotive market is the fourth-largest market in the world. However, when this automobile market shifts to Electric Vehicle (EV) market (EVs), there will be huge demand for electricity for charging these EVs. It is going to create a huge burden on the Indian national power grid. If this power is supplied through conventional power sources then it will contribute to carbon emission and disturb weather conditions. The best solution to tackle this huge electricity demand can be resolved by using the proposed ‘Solar Suitcase’ for charging the battery of our own Electrical vehicle (Conti et al. in International energy outlook 2017 with projections to 2040. U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), 2017 [1]). In this paper, a solar suitcase is developed which could be placed on the rooftop where solar energy will be received and utilized to charge a battery. The solar suitcase would act as a spare battery, which can be utilized to drive an electric vehicle when it is fully charged. This paper tells about Electric Vehicle charging procedure using the solar panel. Availability of maximum power is governed by IoT device and the generated maximum power by the solar suitcase is being tracked using the MPPT Controller (Conti et al. in International energy outlook 2017 with projections to 2040. U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), 2017 [1]). An IoT monitoring system is developed to create a solar suitcase. Also, the solar energy is implemented in modified version using IoT. The suitcase will contain a foldable solar panel which will be easy to move anywhere. Basically, the plates of solar panel are moved and tracked in the direction of sun so that sun energy gets diverted toward the system (Fuentes et al. in Sol Energy Mater Sol Cells 130:529–543, 2014 [2]). The system will measure remotely different quantities like voltage, current, power, energy and temperature. During day-time, suitcase will store the power, to be utilized for EV battery charging during night-time. It can also be utilized to meet light load demand as household application.
