摘要

The chapter summarizes the main findings of the earlier chapter. It points out that empowering women, both at the individual and community level, shields them from intimate partner violence (IPV). The reduction of IPV has positive consequences for other family members, particularly the victim’s children. Elimination of IPV may improve the nutritional status of children and also reduce the risk of facing violence upon attaining adulthood. This chapter suggests increasing the agency of women through their financial empowerment and increasing awareness levels. Mass media may play an important role in this process. However, it is also necessary to investigate the role of deterrence-related factors in reducing the incidence of IPV. The study concludes by arguing that reducing IPV is important not only for its own sake, but also in attaining several SDG targets related to gender equality, malnutrition, and inclusive development.
