Conclusion
摘要
This Chapter, the concluding chapter of this book, summarizes the key findings and insights derived from the study on coordinating conjunctions in Sinitic languages. This chapter lists out the identified universals and areal features. In respond to the research questions posed in Chap. 1 , detailed answers and analysis based on the findings from the previous chapters are provided. The research questions focused on the origins of coordinating conjunctions, the grammaticalization paths, and the syntactic and semantic functions of these conjunctions. The chapter presents a comprehensive overview of the research findings, drawing conclusions and insights from the data collected. Furthermore, the chapter suggests potential research topics for future exploration. These topics include investigating ad hoc coordinating strategies, exploring other potential sources of conjunctions in Sinitic languages, examining the application of the SCAFFOLD model proposed in Chap. 3 to other linguistic phenomena, and studying numeral conjunctions in more depth. These research topics offer avenues for further investigation and contribute to the ongoing understanding of coordinating conjunctions in Sinitic languages and beyond.
