The cosmetic business has experienced a significant increase in the desire for hair care products that are both innovative and safe in recent years. As a result, researchers are now investigating sophisticated approaches to thoroughly assess the safety, effectiveness and potential harmful effects of the products. Omics technologies, including genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and transcriptomics, have become valuable tools for understanding the intricate molecular mechanisms that contribute to the effects of hair care products on the hair and scalp. This study concisely summarises the current status of omics methodologies used to evaluate hair care products. It presents a complete survey of the techniques utilised in genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and transcriptomics. Genomic research has facilitated a more profound comprehension of the hereditary elements that impact individual reactions to hair care treatments, providing personalised product suggestions. Proteomics investigations have shown the complex protein interactions occurring inside the hair follicles and the scalp, offering valuable information about the molecular pathways influenced by various formulations. Metabolomics provides valuable insights into product metabolism and potential systemic effects by analysing the tiny chemicals present in hair and the surrounding tissues. Transcriptomics investigations have revealed the ever-changing gene expression patterns linked to different hair care treatments, exposing the molecular indicators of effectiveness and possible harm. Moreover, this abstract explores imminent progress in omics technologies, emphasising the possible incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for enhanced data analysis and predictive modelling. These advanced procedures have great potential to transform the development and evaluation of hair care products, guaranteeing their safety and effectiveness in a personalised way. This review provides a clear and precise guide for researchers, industry professionals and regulators, leading them towards a more knowledgeable and progressive period of evaluating hair care products.
