Engaging Ich in Heritage Cities in Asia for Climate Change: Synergy of Intangible Cultural Heritage & Tangible Built Heritage

Climate change an universal issue is proving to be a challenge; as currently, nations across the globe are at varying stages of growth. Climate change can be achieved only when all nations are equipped to deliver, irrespective of their current thresholds. Despite the state of art technologies; only selected nations have managed to deliver. Asia is urbanising the fastest ever with the majority of nations with developing economies. Additionally, as per the World Bank report, Asia has the largest reserve of historic cities. With growth, development, and urbanisation the responses of the developmental framework varied for the traditional contexts. Also, technological advancement coupled with IT has brought a paradigm shift. Each of the historic cities continued for their respective thresholds, while the responses were determined by their geographical contexts. Interestingly the continuity is evident through ICH and built heritage. The paper intends to highlight the traditional resilient practices in contemporary development format. Such an approach shall nurture the sustainability for city’s inclusivity, for its resilience that is in sync with the context through ICH.
