  • Rohit Jigyasu

摘要

This paper explores the multifaceted challenges historic cities face in the contemporary world, with a focus on disasters caused by natural hazards, conflicts, urban resilience, and the conservation of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Drawing on insights from recent scholarly work, the paper discusses how these urban areas can harness the Historic Urban Landscape (HUL) approach and integrated urban planning to navigate the complexities of modernization, global climate crisis, and cultural heritage conservation. Through case studies from Patan, Nepal, Ahmedabad and Bangalore, India and Bangkok, Thailand among others, the paper will highlight innovative practices and methodologies that offer a roadmap for securing the vitality, identity, and sustainability of historic urban landscapes.
