Analysis on Mechanical Properties of Aluminium MMC with Graphite and Boron Nitride Powder

Aluminium alloys continue to be a popular choice in the automotive, naval building, and aviation industries due to their superior corrosion and wear resistance in comparison with conventional metals and alloys, as well as their favourable mechanical characteristics, low density, as well as low coefficient of thermal expansion. Furthermore, composites have attracted substantial attention due to their adaptability in a variety of technological applications, as well as their cost-effective manufacture and increased mechanical properties. Researchers used varying particle proportions in the composite mixture to develop metal matrix composites composed of aluminium. The fundamental goal of this present study is to create aluminium-based metal matrix composite materials, particularly by employing the stir casting technique and the UNSA92618 supplemented with boron nitride and graphite. The created specimens were tested for hardness, compressive along with tensile strengths, in addition to XRD, SEM, and also optical microscope analyses, to evaluate the characteristics of the metal matrix.
