The main objective of the current study is to rank polymer-based biomaterials used in dental applications using a hybrid multi-criteria decision method (HMCDM), explicitly the fuzzy TOPSIS approach. Seven diverse polymer biomaterials, including polylactic acid (PLA), polycaprolactone (PCL), polylactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA), poly-methyl-metacrylate (PMMA), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), poly ether ether ketone (PEEK), and poly ether ketone ketone (PEKK), were chosen as potential alternatives for the investigation. Ten characteristics, including cost, availability, shore D hardness, melting point, tensile strength, flexural strength, compressive strength, biocompatibility, biodegradability, and Young’s modulus, were considered as the main selection criterion. Results revealed that PEKK and PEEK were found to be the best preferential materials for dental interim crowns.

摘要
