Various Compensation Topologies Used in Wireless Power Charger for EV: Classification, Component Design, and Comparison

摘要

Application of electric vehicle (EV) is needed for sustainability. The commercialization and adoption of electric vehicles require efficient, reliable, and economical charging technology. The batteries in EV can be charged by conductive or wireless power transmission (WPT). In conductive charging methods, charging time and overall losses are very high, whereas WPT has overcome these problems and provides a better charging solution for EVs. WPT technology can be used to charge any type of EV. The important block in wireless power chargers is the compensation circuit. The component design of this compensation circuit is an important task. Because the compensation circuit can increase the power transfer ability from sending side to receiving side. To design an efficient compensation circuit, component design is utmost important. This paper gives the detailed classification of compensation topologies based on no. of resonant elements on both sides used in WPT system, component design of compensation topologies with their comparison and best is suggested in conclusion.
