Intelligent Decision Support System for Selection of Internal Devices for Installation of Electroplating

An approach for selecting internal devices for a multifunctional apparatus used for electroplating of parts in bulk based on the theory of expert systems is considered. The problem of optimal choice of devices and materials used in heating devices, immersion drums, cooling coils, and additional equipment was set and solved. The optimality criterion is presented as the sum of relative losses of the following criteria taken with certain values of their importance: estimated purchase and installation cost of devices; resistance of device materials; manufacturability of electroplating processes; durability of device materials. The issues of constructing an information and logical model of decision support for their automated choice, which allows to form a suitable set of equipment for electroplating of parts in bulk, are considered. The model is based on production rules, which are built according to the type: if … (conditions are met), then … (implementation of the consequence). The developed software was tested at several industrial enterprises to construct apparatuses for carrying out cadmium plating, galvanizing, nickel plating, brass plating, silvering of small parts and showed high efficiency of the proposed approach. The choice of design options and materials for heating devices in the apparatus for electroplating of parts in bulk was tested on cadmium plating of two types of parts: bolts and nuts, as well as on zinc plating of two types of parts: bushings and studs. An appropriate choice of internal devices of the apparatus will ensure uniform plating of products in bulk, as well as continuous operation of production facilities.
