The chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the field of aquaculture, covering its history, importance, and environmental considerations. The chapter reviewed the importance of aquaculture for food security, economic development, and poverty alleviation, especially in developing regions. The environmental impacts of aquaculture, such as water pollution from fish waste and excess nutrients, are also examined in detail.
