Comparative Analysis of Channel Estimation Techniques

This paper thoroughly examines different techniques of channel estimation in wireless communication systems, providing a comprehensive understanding of their strengths, limitations, and real-world applications. This paper primarily discusses pilot-based channel estimation methods such as Least Squares, Minimum mean squared, Maximum Likelihood Estimation as well as contemporary approaches like Discrete Prolate Spheroidal Sequences (DPSS). The methods are explained thoroughly, and comparative studies for blind and semi-blind methods are also included to make the survey exhaustive. Finally, a brief study of WINNER channel model is also included in the paper. The paper also displays practical applications across domains including 4G, 5G networks.
