A Border Surveillance System Designed to Detect and Monitor Terrorist Activities Using Wireless Sensor Network

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are widely used in military applications, especially border surveillance. This study aims to develop a wireless sensor network for use on the India-Pakistan border. Traditional approaches to border surveillance present many challenges, such as energy consumption, low cost, latency, data integrity, computational and communication limitations, and the need for human intervention. Traditional methods such as stationing troops on the border, digging fences, impenetrable walls, and caves are being replaced by sensors, radars, surveillance cameras, sensors, and GPS-based wireless sensor networks to create virtual fences. For this purpose, a hybrid WSN-based Border Surveillance System (BSS) architecture is proposed, which uses the initiative strategy to achieve high performance, high capacity balancing, and survivability increase. The integrated BSS architecture minimizes human intervention by deploying sensors, radars, cameras, and drones instead of humans. The results showed that the application model and activation were maintenance-accurate and accurate, required less maintenance, lower delivery, and provided greater reliability. Test results show that the system outperforms other methods in detecting network access and extends its life by effectively managing network resources.
