Assessing the Energy Sustainability Corridor: An Empirical Study on Energy Productivity from Brics Nation
摘要
This paper emphasises the role of energy sustainability on energy productivity and energy efficiency variables in BRICS nations from 2017 to 2023. Most of the previous research considered assessing sustainability by examining the energy and carbon dioxide emissions energy efficiency of emerging economies, utilising labour, capital, energy, gross domestic product, and carbon dioxide as indices and ignored the attainment of energy productivity in terms of energy intensity, investment in energy by private partnership and energy efficiency of BRICS nation. Therefore, the current study assesses the energy productivity of BRICS nations, the stepping stone for clean energy to attain sustainable goal 7 with clean and affordable energy. We use various methodologies like linearity tests, correlation matrix criteria, and nonlinearity criteria to test whether the energy productivity variables influence the SDG7 of the BRICS sample. After confirming the diagnosis test, we employ that there is a linear relation between energy productivity with energy intensity and investment in energy by a private partnership. There is nonlinearity for energy production with the other three variables. The results reveal that BRIC nations need to focus on energy efficiency to attain sustainability. Hence, the study suggests that BRICS nations should pay more attention to achieving sustainable energy efficiency.
