The current state of health care lacks seamless sharing of patient data among institutions, researchers, and patients. Cloud computing, renowned for on-demand computer resources and data storage, emerges as a pivotal force for interoperability, facilitating easy data sharing and heightened accessibility. This research delves into the current landscape of cloud-based interoperability in healthcare, elucidating its promising benefits for patients, health-care providers, and researchers. The study identifies critical technical challenges obstructing smooth data exchange, encompassing diverse vendor formats, lack of standardization, vendor lock-in, privacy concerns, and security vulnerabilities. Proposed solutions include standardized data models, a robust interoperability framework, and open-source initiatives. The paper underscores the imperative role of collaboration among stakeholders—cloud providers, healthcare institutions, patients, and regulatory bodies—in establishing a genuinely interoperable environment, not only benefiting specific groups but also serving societal interests.
