The foundry sector plays a pivotal role in manufacturing, providing crucial components for diverse industries. This study investigates the incorporation of automation in foundry operations through the utilization of Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence/Machine-Learning (AI/ML) technologies with the aim of enhancing efficiency, cutting costs, and refining overall processes. The IoT facilitates the connectivity and communication among devices and sensors in the foundry, establishing a networked environment. These interconnected devices generate substantial real-time data, delivering valuable insights into the intricacies of the production process. AI/ML algorithms are then applied to analyze this data, enabling functions such as predictive maintenance, quality control, and the optimization of production parameters.
