Laser Therapy as an Alternate Technique for Sustainable Healthcare in India
摘要
Indian healthcare sector has seen many transformations in the last decade. India is gradually being recognized as a destination for healthcare. Yet the transformation is uneven and has not yet reached all segments of society due to various reasons. One of the main reasons is that allopathic treatment especially that involving surgical interventions is usually costly and has side effects. Modern allopathic medicines are usually taken orally or intravenously. In this way, all parts of the body get exposed to the medicines. This is the reason why there are side effects. But in laser therapy, only the affected part gets the treatment. In this respect, it is nonintrusive and a kind of green form of medical treatment. Eastern Healers by Dr. Prakash Kataria is an enterprise that brought laser therapy to India twenty-five years ago in Mumbai. He has treated different types of illnesses right up to cardiac problems and helped avoid surgery. His approach is a holistic one involving laser treatment, ayurvedic medicines, and exercises. The objective of this research is to know how laser therapy can be an alternate, nonintrusive, sustainable form of treatment that can ultimately result in quality inclusive healthcare in India. The researchers interviewed Dr. Prakash Kataria to know about this form of treatment and to find out how it can result in quality, sustainable, and inclusive healthcare in India. They also referred to secondary sources for information about this alternate form of treatment.
