摘要

China has a vast rural population and a serious urban–rural divide. Discussion of the gender dimension is highly likely to be invisible but extremely important in rural resilience. The challenges faced by rural women in China are multifaceted: economic realities, educational level, social-culture norms, and so on. At the same time, in the twenty-first century, where digitalization is extremely popular, the digital divide and technology gap faced by rural women have also become huge thorny issues. This chapter aims to explore rural resilience in China from a gender perspective, specifically in four parts: Briefly introducing the background of China’s rural areas and the urban–rural divide; Discussing the challenges rural women face for their resilience; Exploring the new technologies and rural innovations that can enhance rural women’s resilience; Providing some potential solutions for strengthening rural women’s resilience and development.
