Formability Control Using Forming Limit Curve and Hole Expansion Ratio in Single Point Incremental Forming
摘要
Formability is the ability of a given metal work piece to undergo plastic deformation without being damaged. The formability of a material is determined by its fracture strain, which is a general parameter that indicates the formability and ductility of a material. Single point incremental forming (SPIF) is a sheet metal forming method that involves locally expanding the sheet using a forming tool following a tool path managed by a CNC vertical milling machine. The forming tool and punch tool are used in the computer-aided manufacturing program and the route that imports into the CNC vertical milling machine to perform the SPIF process are considered as the main forming parameters such as the sheet thickness, feed rate, spindle speed and the incremental step size. Formability can affect different processes of metal forming such as bending, stamping, expanding and incremental forming shaping. However, the control of formability through SPIF is still an active area of research. This paper presents a review on the formability control using forming limit curve (FLC) and hole expansion ratio (HER).
