From Strategy to Action: An Open Database for Climate Adaptation
摘要
This chapter presents an original methodology designed to implement regional adaptation strategies at the local governance level, focusing on Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Marche, Apulia regions (Italy), and Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Šibenik-Knin, Dubrovnik-Neretva counties (Croatia). The objective is to create a toolkit containing the best available climate change adaptation actions tailored to the unique needs of each area (Chap. 7 ) and integrating climate analysis insights (Chap. 8 ). Through a comprehensive literature review on European climate adaptation, the toolkit emphasizes both adaptation and potential greenhouse gas mitigation measures. By prioritizing actions based on actual climate impacts, the toolkit serves as a user-friendly resource for public authorities. Named the Climate Menu for Adriatic Regions toolkit, this database is accessible as a web platform, facilitating effective adaptation planning at the local level, fostering mutual support, and promoting contextually relevant strategies across the Adriatic Basin. The chapter is structured as follows. Sections 9.1–9.3 outline the methodology used for data collection. This is followed by a description of the adaptation actions gathered and the Climate Menu toolkit realized (Sect. 9.4). Section 9.5 analyzes potential adaptation actions specific to the Adriatic study areas. The chapter closes with final considerations on the overall planning processes (Sect. 9.6).
